Following one of our recent trips to the country, we hit horrible traffic on the way home. Rather than sit on the highway, we decided to take a detour along the local roads. While not necessarily faster, at least there’s a great view! We stumbled upon the Croton Falls Reservoir along the way and had to stop.

Armchair Junking: Garden Decor

You’ll notice from last week’s Farmhouse Friday post that we’re in serious spring dreaming mode. Today, I’m rounding up unique vintage accents to make any garden seem just a little more magical and otherworldly.
1) This hanging bird feeder would look particularly dreamy nestled in a flowering tree.
2) A collection of old water faucet knobs would make cute stepping stones stuck into a path leading out to a patio.

Farmhouse Friday: The Water’s Edge

Perhaps the only thing more relaxing than a country house would be a a country home on the water.  This week, we’re dreaming of waterfalls and lake access.

Hudson Valley: Claverack, NY

I love old houses, especially when they are a piece of history.  Today’s Hudson Valley pick sits on Claverack Creek and was part of the Jacob Van Rensselaer House and Mill Complex.  I can imagine summer picnics at the water’s edge with friends and family.
