Sometimes the curb appeal of a house doesn’t match the interior, and today we have two examples of amazing mansions for reasonable prices that fit into this category. We would like to see quite a bit of redecorating inside each of these homes, but let’s focus on the good instead.
Upstate New York: New Hartford, NY
The area surrounding Utica has a special place in our hearts after spending four years at Hamilton College, so I was excited to see this gigantic stone castle for sale in New Hartford. The interior isn’t necessarily our tastes, but I can’t get enough of the stone walls and archways. I also love the little stone outbuilding and mix of glass and stone for the sunroom/greenhouse.
9 BR/7 full + 3 half Baths; $750,000; 31 Sherman Circle, New Hartford, NY
New England: Manchester, VT
This oversize New England colonial mansion has amazing architectural details and grounds. The wide front porch with structural columns, the perfectly manicured lawn and back gardens, the white picket fence – there’s a lot to love about this home’s exterior. The interior, however, does not maintain as many of the charming period details and features a redone/modernized kitchen and decor. I’d love to see the inside of this beautiful home rehabbed with more recycled materials that harken back to the time it was built.
5 BR/4.5 Bath; $998,000; 731 West Road; Manchester, Vermont
