Farmhouse Friday: Book Your Summer Rental

Now that it’s May, we’re looking towards and preparing for summer weekends in the country. Rental houses are a great way to immerse yourself in the local lifestyle, and we’ve been to many wonderful rentals! We spent last Labor Day at this amazing log cabin in Woodstock, and two years ago, we rented this unique chalet in nearby Bearsville. We’re also getting very excited about staying at High Pocket Farm in Shelburne Falls, Massachusetts in two weeks!

Hudson Valley: Woodstock, NY

This historic stone home is at the end of a private road and is only three minutes from Woodstock’s Village Green. The house has separate sitting and living rooms in addition to an enclosed dining porch.  Invite your friends and family to stay on your vacation too – with four bedrooms, there’s room for everyone.  If Woodstock’s swimming holes along the Esopus aren’t your speed, you can take a dip in the in ground pool.

New England: Monhegan Island, Maine

Monhegan Island off the coast of Maine is such a special place. We got to visit a couple years back for a day hike while spending a week in Boothbay Harbor for our friend Kristy’s wedding. The small island and artist’s community has fewer than 50 year-round residents and boasts amazing views, hiking trails, picnic spots, and a wonderful art gallery displaying the work of a bevy of talented local artists.

This 3-bedroom rental offers a relaxing island getaway, with a deck on the ocean’s edge, a woodstove on the porch, beautiful knotty pine floors, and nooks around every corning for curling up with a glass of wine and a book.
