Cocktail Party: Weekend Prep

To celebrate the Kentucky Derby and Cinco de Mayo, let’s making some liquor infusions for some unique cocktails: a blackberry mint julep and a cool and spicy margarita. The infusions need to sit for at least four days, so if you get started tonight, there’s still time before your weekend gatherings.

Blackberry Mint Bourbon
1/2 pint of blackberries
1 bunch of mint
6 ounces (approximately) of bourbon

In a small mason jar, add the blackberries and mint to the bottom of the jar. Pour in bourbon to cover the ingredients. Seal the mason jar and store in the refrigerator for at least four days, shaking occasionally to mix. When the flavors are infused, strain and enjoy!

Jalapeno Cilantro Lime Tequila
1 jalapeno, chopped into large pieces
1/4 cup of cilantro leaves
Zest of 2 limes, in large strips
6 ounces (approximately) of tequila

In a small mason jar, add the jalapeno, cilantro and limes to the bottom of the jar. Pour in tequila to cover the ingredients. Seal the mason jar and store in the refrigerator for at least four days, shaking occasionally to mix. When the flavors are infused, strain and enjoy!
