Farmhouse Friday: Near the Berkshires

Our friends Adam and Chrissy rented an amazing house in Great Barrington, and they invited us to visit last weekend. We relaxed in front of the fire, ate delicious meals, and explored town. Saturday afternoon cocktail hour was enjoyed around a long farm table at the Bell & Anchor. On Sunday, we stopped by the amazing Great Barrington Antiques Center, where I found two new mashers for my collection, and the Hillsdale General Store, which offers new and vintage housewares.

Cathy’s Hudson Valley pick: Hillsdale, NY

Hillsdale is just over the Massachusetts state line from Great Barrington and has a lovely downtown. In addition to the Hillsdale General Store, there was an ice cream shop and a country restaurant.

I love that most of the interior of this house is white washed, giving it an airy feel, and much of the bead board remains. The huge upstairs bedroom looks perfect for big groups, and the master bedroom has a wood burning stove!

Erika’s New England pick: Great Barrington, MA

This house is not far from where Cathy stayed, and it is just a five minute drive to town or the amazing local grocery store called Guidos.

I love the screened-in back porch and garden plot out behind the barn – it would be perfect for growing your own vegetables. The living room features original hardwood floors and wainscoting, along with some decorative ceiling panels and an exposed brick fireplace.
