I’m enjoying a delicious cocktail while watching the Oscars Red Carpet, and I couldn’t wait to share this recipe! The lavender simple syrup makes the drink sweet and fragrant, but the Cynar adds an opposing earthy and bitter balance. If you don’t have Cynar on hand, I’m sure a few dashes of bitters (lavender bitters?) would be equally delicious.
2 parts bourbon
3/4 part lavender simple syrup
3/4 part lemon juice
1/2 part Cynar
Shake bourbon, lavender simple syrup and lemon juice over ice and strain into a coupe glass. Top with Cynar.
Lavender simple syrup: Bring 3/4 cup water to a boil. Add 2 tbsp dried culinary grade organic lavender and 3/4 cup sugar, and continue to boil until sugar dissolves. Remove from heat and allow to steep for at least 15 minutes. Store in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
