Farmhouse Friday: The Water’s Edge

Perhaps the only thing more relaxing than a country house would be a a country home on the water.  This week, we’re dreaming of waterfalls and lake access.

Hudson Valley: Claverack, NY

I love old houses, especially when they are a piece of history.  Today’s Hudson Valley pick sits on Claverack Creek and was part of the Jacob Van Rensselaer House and Mill Complex.  I can imagine summer picnics at the water’s edge with friends and family.

New England: Charlotte, VT

For the third week in a row, I seem to have chosen a white farmhouse with red barn – I’m sensing a bit of an obsession with this classic combo! This quaint country home sits on the edge of Lake Champlain, complete with its own dock for lazy summer lounging.

An adorable mud room, plenty of built-ins, a gourmet kitchen, and evenings by the lake – sure spells dream house to me!
