Farmhouse Friday: Barns

Farmhouse Friday is how we dream about country living each week, and this week our imaginations are running wild with what we could do with a barn!

Hudson Valley: Hillsdale, New York

I love this cream house with charming shutters. It has a large, relaxing porch for the summer and a sunroom to enjoy in the winter.

One of my dreams is to have a large barn that I can turn into a cat sanctuary.  With a small addition of a green house, they could catnap in the sunshine while waiting for the perfect families to come.

New England: Damariscotta, Maine

This 1860 little white house is the perfect Northern hideaway. With its natural light and plenty of cozy nooks, it would be a great place to write a novel – noted children’s author Barbara Cooney used to call this home!

The red barn out back would be a fabulous space to open a little antique shop. A few summers ago, we rented a house in Damariscotta and were charmed by all of the pull-off-the-road junk shops, and dreamed one day of having our own.
